Harvest of Blessings

Count [our] blessings, name them one by one, Count [our] blessings, see what God hath done!

Count [our] blessings, name them one by one,  And it will surprise [us] what the Lord hath done.”

~Johnson Oatman, Jr.

Good Morning from Stamping Peace.   It is freezing here in Maine this morning, but I’m counting my blessings that I have a warm home with a furnace (that we finally turned on Sunday night) AND a wood stove that is crackling merrily away as I sit and visit with you.   I am easily chilled, so I am so conscious of the blessing of heat!  : )   What blessings are you counting this morning?

Todays card with it’s “Harvest of Blessings” sentiment,  was stamped with the Harvest of Thanks stamp set.  The Early Espresso ink was stamped directly on Pool Party paper for the sentiment, and on Very Vanilla for the turkey.  The card has an Early Espresso Base, then a Pool Party layer, and is topped with “Sweater Weather” DSP.  The Crushed Curry buttons are tied with Linen Twine and Crushed Curry DSP outlines the sentiment.  The 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon is from the Holiday Catalog.  The stitching is removed from both sides of the ribbon and several strands of burlap thread are removed as well to give it a fringed look.   The inside of the 5″ x 5″ Beth Beard designed card is stamped with the “Thanks” stamp from the Harvest of Thanks set.

I’m trying hard to give Thanksgiving it’s due before jumping into Christmas projects.  We spent part of the week-end changing our home décor from Halloween to Thanksgiving…

…and Saturday night we watched one of our annual favorite movies…”An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving”, which is based on a short story by Louisa May Alcott, author of “Little Women.”  We don’t have cable television, so we rely on DVD’s for family entertainment on our television.

I’m off to the stampuary with a hot cup of tea with cinnamon (for the arthritis!)  Have a Blessed Day friends.

  1. Beautiful quote, so true, so true. I skipped over Halloween (had to make 24 Birthday Thank You cards) and I’m so looking forward to a thoughtful Thanksgiving (and being thankful for that surprise BD party).

  2. Brrrr…. Love the burlap! Wish i could go to Beth’s card class w you ladies- but I have too much traving in a few days!! Does your cinnamon dissolve?! It was like sludge when I tried it!!!!?!!!
Ps- would you consider disabling the name and email !!!?!! 🙂

    • Come with us! You won’t have to drive (and one of Beth’s projects is an autumn scrapbook page!)
I put a little water in the bottom of my cup at the end and drink whatever “sludge” is left. : )
Not sure what you mean by disabling the name and email?
P.S. Ix nay on the chickens! I’d get all attached to them and then the fox would get them. (We have fox that trot right through our backyard).

      • Lorraine, it’s supposed to be 1 tsp. cinnamon (an anti-inflammatory) with 2 T. honey in hot water. I don’t use the honey anymore, but maybe the cinnamon sticks to the honey so there’s not so much sludge at the end???
