Happy Birthday Maria and Patti!

Pinwheel 003

“I think we’re here for each other.”

~ Carol Burnett

Happy Birthday today to my dear stamping buddy, Patti, and to one of my son’s employees and our good friend, Maria.  I hope both of you ladies have a wonderful day!!   This birthday pinwheel was made from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit…a fun kit that comes once a month from Stampin’ Up!  This kit has the supplies to make twenty summertime fun pinwheels.  This one is in a little plastic baggy so the straw doesn’t get wet.   A fun birthday surprise and colorful summer décor!  : )

More Cards for the Ronald McDonald House!

Ronald McDonald House Cards 001

“Friends, they are kind to each other’s hopes.  They cherish each other’s dreams.”

My friend Mimi made me this card a couple of weeks ago with the “Too Kind” stamp set.  It did say “You’re Too Kind” until it was splashed with dishwater from the kitchen sink.  Mimi is so good at combining colors…thank you Mimi!  : )

Ronald McDonald House Cards 002

This is an assortment of cards that two of our Stamping Peace demonstrators donated for the Ronald McDonald House.  Katherine made the purple one up in the left-hand corner, and Terry made the others.  Everyone was so generous in donating cards.  I’m finally going to get them mailed out today.  Is it just me, or are there just not enough hours in the day?  : )   I’ve been helping my son’s Summersweet Landscaping business with a Children’s Garden that they are installing down on the riverwalk in our city, so I haven’t had time for any stamping this week!  There are two out of the four sections planted.  It’s going to be such a burst of color and I love the rock paths (and the rocks!) that they have added.  Today it is raining, so I’m hoping to have some stamping time this afternoon.  Yay!  : )

Team Challenge: Card with Stars On It

Fourth of July Card 001

“Star-spangled happiness and banner waves of pride.”

~Cherishe Archer

Our Stamping Peace Team of Demonstrators is having a challenge…to make a card with stars on it before the 4th of July.  This is my card.  Hubby said the “stars” shouldn’t go all the way down to the bottom [the Night of Navy DSP] , but I told him it’s an “artistic version” of the flag.  So, we can just imagine that the polka dots are stars! : )  And, there are a few inside…

Fourth of July Card 002

I put the ribbon from the Blue Ribbon stamp set on the left to correspond with the blue panel on the front, and the stars from “Simply Stars” (retired) in a line on the right to correspond with the stripes (from the Fresh Prints DSP Stack) on the front.  4th of July is the birthday of our country, but it’s also my husbands brother’s birthday, so this card will go out to him.  When he was little, he always thought the fourth of July parade was for him!   : )  Cheers, Dawn

Luncheon Invitations

Summersweet Invitations 001

“Dwell in possibility.”

~Emily Dickinson

Good Morning!  Hope you had a nice week-end.  I was able to make these invitations yesterday.   (Sorry, they are just for Jonathan’s Summersweet Landscaping crew, that’s why I covered the date and the address!)   : )  They are for another Innovation Luncheon in July and were stamped with an image from “Serene Silhouettes”…a stamp set that has been on my wish list since last summer when a lady I met at Convention gave me a card front made with it.  The green behind the invitations is a menu to a local sandwich shop.  I know that in busy July I won’t be able to cook like I did for the last luncheon.  Summer goes fast here in Maine.  : )    Cheers!  Dawn

Down the Road Again

Traveler 001

“What we remember from our childhood we remember forever.”

~Cynthia Ozick

Wah!  Our friend Eric is moving out of state today.  Safe travels Eric, and don’t forget to write!  Eric has been Joseph’s Scouting buddy for years now.  There aren’t a lot of people in this world who will befriend a little guy with Down’s Syndrome, but Eric has been a good friend to our son Joseph. (He even volunteered to help at Joseph’s Special Olympic events.)  Thank you Eric…we sure are going to miss you (but I’ll never miss the Swamp Romp at Boy Scout camp!)  : )  A few years ago, Eric was the only scout out of hundreds who signed up for the Swamp Romp at Boy Scout Camp.  The Nature Center Director wouldn’t let Eric participate alone, he needed a buddy.  Since we were a troop of three boys and the other two boys had other obligations, Scoutmaster MacKay stepped in to accompany Eric.  Big mistake.  We had a great nature lesson as we waded, waist high, through the swamp, but we came out with leeches all over our legs.  That was an experience for the memory books.  I told Eric that his parents owed me big time for that one!  : )349

I could write a book about all the experiences we’ve had with the cheerful Mr. Eric.  (Like last summer when he spoofed my Stampin’ Up! Convention attendance.  I had stayed up all night flying home from the convention in Salt Lake City and turned around two hours later to go to Scout camp for a week.  We arrived at camp and Eric came out with… “Hi, I’m Justin Stamper…here to tell you about my new perfume, “INK”.  If you want to stink, stink like ink.”)    I just hope your new Scoutmaster enjoys you as much as this one did, Eric!  xoxo Mrs. MacKay

P.S.  This card is a Cindy Techlin design and uses the new “Traveler” and “Work of Art” stamp sets.  The cardstock is Marina Mist, Basic Black and Whisper White.  Inks are Staz-On black, Marina Mist and Pistachio Pudding.

You’re moments away….

Paper Pumpkin 001

“Each day comes bearing its own gifts.  UNTIE THE RIBBONS.”

~Ruth Ann Schabacker

There are so many perks to being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator.  One of the most recent was that demonstrators could sign up for Paper Pumpkin at a 50% discount.  So, I took the plunge (the subscription can be canceled at any time).  When it didn’t arrive on time, I called Demonstrator Support and they overnight mailed me last months kit (for free) to tide me over until my first paid kit arrived!

Paper Pumpkin 003

This is a little welcome card that came with the kit.  It says…”Thank you!  So glad you joined!  That smile looks good on you.  It’s time to get excited!  It’s our very first magical paper escape together.  xoxo, Paper Pumpkin     wait…there’s more    I’ve given you a special gift!  It’s a clear block to stamp with.  Keep it for our rendezvous each month.  (And, unlike a glass slipper, it will always fit.”   : )

Paper Pumpkin 008

I couldn’t imagine what was inside…. (but I was smiling!)

Paper Pumpkin 005

Okay, we’ve got a package of glue dots, an acrylic block, a little spot of ink and some photopolymer stamps…one that says “party”, a row of stars and one that says “celebrate.”  It feels like a celebration already!  : )

Paper Pumpkin 007

A pinwheel party!  How fun is this for a July celebration? (There are supplies for 24 pinwheels) Oh, I know just what to use this for!  Yay!   So now we know what Paper Pumpkin is all about.  I’m liking this little monthly escape!  How about you?  If you want in, just let me know.  (Demonstrators, the monthly $19.95 price tag counts toward our quarterly sales/purchases)  : )   Cheers, Dawn

Innovation Luncheon Gift Bags

Children's Garden 005

“If we can imagine it, we can achieve it.”

~William Arthur Ward

These are the gift bags that I made for the Innovation Luncheon for Summersweet Landscaping’s employees.  The bags contain business card holders and business cards.  The challenge is for everyone to distribute the cards before next month’s luncheon. : )  The bags are a variation of ones shown in Stampin’ Up’s new catalog on page 71.  I used the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die and the new Polka Dot Tag a Gift Bags.  GREAT project!
