“No man is the whole of himself, his friends are the rest of him.”
~Good Life Almanac
This is the first time I have made a card using a sketch challenge. (www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com) It made putting together this card a breeze! The idea for the ribbon came from Brian Kings take on the sketch, which is a really cute Halloween card. I needed some “guy cards” to thank some of the awesome people at Boy Scout camp who went the extra mile to help Joseph out last week, and I think this turned out pretty “guyish!” The campfire stamp is from the recently retired “Great Outdoors” stampset.
“Our affections are our life. We live by them; they supply our warmth.”

Good Morning Stamping Peacers and Blog Visitors, “thanks-a-latte” for stopping by! Once in awhile I like to check to see where our visitors come from, and recently it has been Australia and Poland. It’s heartwarming to be part of such a global family of stampers!
Today’s card was made from the new Paper Pumpkin Kit, which arrived while I was at Boy Scout camp last week. I sat down on Sunday and made all eight cards…before unpacking, doing laundry, housework, grocery shopping, etc. : ) Every month the kit is awesome, and includes stamps, but this one includes TEN photopolymer stamps. We always get our money’s worth with these little boxes of fun! The sentiments included are: “thanks-a-latte,” “get well,” and “a cup of cheer.” If you aren’t a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, consider becoming one…you can cancel your subscription at any time!
“There’s nothing worth the wear of winning, but laughter and the love of friends.”
Hello Stamping Peacers and Blog visitors! This beautiful card came in the mail last week while I was away at Boy Scout Camp with Joseph. It’s from one of my amazingly creative downlines, Beth Mills. Beth holds classes over in the downeast region of Maine. This is a card that her class made back in May with the new Butterfly Basics stamp set. I love all the elements, especially the ribbon tabs. Thank you Beth!
I was sorry to miss all the excitement of convention last week while I was away in the backwoods of Maine. I did see the youtube video of convention highlights when I got home on Saturday and it is posted on my Stamping Peace Facebook page (which I don’t normally use, but I can’t post videos on this blog because I haven’t upgraded yet…I’m waiting until my free time is used up on this WordPress blog!) Hopefully I can attend the next Stampin’ Up! event, which will be in Baltimore in November. We are trying to make that happen! Is anyone else planning to make that trip?
Speaking of laughter (in the quote), I have a funny little story to share. (If we are friends on my regular FB page, you’ve heard this). At Boy Scout Camp, the instructor asked Joseph what he thought Emergency Preparedness means. Joseph, my guy with Down’s Syndrome, responded: “two pints, one for me and one for my shipmate!” We were roaring!!! : )
“Safety doesn’t happen by accident.”
Welcome Stampingpeacers, bloggers and new blogging visitors Diane from Colorado and MaryAnne! I’ve been off for a week, working with my son Jonathan’s Summersweet Landscaping company (named after the wildly fragrant Summersweet bush!). As well as volunteer laborer and gopher, I’m the volunteer Safety and Wellness Support for Summersweet. Once a month I give out a safety rewards and yesterday the employees received gas cards in these cute envelopes made with the Envelope Punch Board and 6″ x 6″ pieces of Designer Series Paper. The tags, written out by our youngest son, Joseph, were made with the Handpicked Framelits. Cutie-patootie!
“Don’t simply retire from something; have something to retire to.”
I got a good laugh the other day when I went to visit a friend. She had read our blog that morning and thought I was talking about a “retired set” when I mentioned the “retirement set” of Wild About Flowers stamps. (Same card as this but it said “You’ll be missed.”) So, I made these cards to clear things up (added a little bling with the tiniest pearls). It truly is a set of stamps to make retirement cards!
“There is no possession more valuable than a good and faithful friend.”
Good Morning and thanks for stopping in to Stamping Peace. Today’s card was sent to me by Dianne Sisneros when I won some incredible blog candy last week on her blog, Stamp With Bee. It’s a card that is in the catalog on page 105, but look how creative Dianne is…she changed the colors of the “Six-Sided Sampler” stamps (p. 104) to showcase the new 2015-2017 “In-Colors!” The butterfly is from the “Papillon Potpourri” set of butterflies (p. 107) and the background ink splatters are made with the “Gorgeous Grunge” stamp set (p. 123). The little strip that sparkles is cut from glimmer paper (p. 149). It’s such a pretty and delicate card, I just love it. And the lined envelope! It was my first glimpse of our new light weight Envelope Paper (p. 149)… an elegant finishing touch. Thank you Dianne!
“You’ll be on your way up! You’ll be seeing great sights! You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.”
This is the card that I made for my downline this month. It goes out to them with some of the new Lost Lagoon cotton striped ribbon to play with this summer. They are a group of such talented ladies, each with their own style. Have fun, ladies! : )
