“The lover of life makes the whole world into his family.”
Yesterday was a big day…the second Global Design Project Challenge #GDP002 was revealed and it was the first day of homeschooling for me and our son Joseph who graduated from the special education program at our high school in June. (That’s our funny boy at the bottom of this post, posing for a picture after snitching his buddy Caleb’s shades.) : ) For the Global Design Project I decided to make a first day of school card for Joseph, with a detachable bookmark. While he was doing some seatwork out came the Dictionary Background stamp, the Writing Notes Background Stamp and the new Howl-A-Ween stamp set. The black strip is Washi Tape, and the blue strip is a stamp in the Butterfly Basics set. The little hearts are punched from the Owl Builder Punch and the little Marina Mist blue striped banner, made to match the Marina Mist chevron (cut in half) ribbon on the bookmark, is from an old Sale-a-Bration set called Banner Blast. The slit for the ribbons was punched with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch (punched twice side by side to make it wider). It was such a fun card to make but did I ever make a mess with all the supplies I pulled out! Joseph was tickled with the card and already has the bookmark in his latest Boxcar Children book. : ) Speaking of books, have you read “The Book Thief” or seen the movie with Geoffrey Rush? I love the part when he says “Your majesty.” This is the sketch challenge that the talented Teneale Williams provided for us this week…hope you can play along at http://www.global-design-project.com/
Edit: I ended up putting Joseph’s round bookmark onto a square base this morning. It seems easier for him to use.
