“Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.”
~Rossiter Worthington Raymond
The Global Design Project at http://global-design-project.com/ has thrown out a color challenge this week and did I have a time of it. The colors are Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzaz and Soft Sky. I knew I wanted to make a card to honor the 33 crew members of the El Faro that were not found at sea this week and the somberness of the occasion did not lend itself to color. My husband graduated from Maine Maritime Academy (where five of the crew members also went to school) and at times he does work on the academy ship through his work. He remembers seeing two of the crew members in the past few years. It has been a roller coaster of a week here in Maine waiting for news from the search and rescue mission. My husband used to work at sea and I can empathize with what the families have gone through. Anyway, what I finally did was combine all three colors to make the ocean water with a stamp from the Work of Art stamp set. The ship stamp comes from the Traveler stamp set and the lesson on layering the background cardstocks came from Brian King. Thanks Brian, and thanks Global Design Project team members for another great challenge. Peacebewithyou and may the souls of the El Faro Crew Members rest in peace.
