Feast Card for As You See It Challenge #196

“We are born to love, we live to love, and we will die to love still more.”

~St. Joseph

Happy Feast of St. Joseph! This is my second post today.  I wanted to make a card to celebrate today’s solemnity. (A Solemnity is a “high feast” in the Church).  A symbol for St. Joseph is a staff growing lilies out the top, so I wanted to try to reproduce that.  I think we came close?  This is the inside of the card:

I used the color challenge from this week’s As You See It Challenge at http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com for this card.  Last week I was chosen as their Featured Artist with a Lent card I had made…that was a fun surprise! Thank you, As You See It!  This is the current challenge, which lasts for two weeks:

If you have time to play with it, have fun!

Peace,

Dawn

  1. Dawn, I like the way you’ve used the Soft Suede as your main colour and accented it with the greens. I didn’t know there was a feast of St Joseph but I was interested because there are a lot of St Joseph’s schools and I used to teach at one many years ago. I think your lily staff has worked out well. Thanks for joining us again at As You See It Challenge,

    • Hi Nancy. The “flowering staff” is used for yesterdays Feast Day, but there is a second Feast Day for him on May 1st where we celebrate St. Joseph the Worker, and then the symbol is a square (carpenters tool). Thanks for stopping by Nancy! ❤

  2. Dawn, I love your plaid background that you created using the Buffalo Check background stamp. It looks great in Soft Suede and green. And the flowering staff is very creative. I learn so much from your blog! Thanks for joining us again at As You See It Challenges.

    • Thanks Heather, it was a challenge to make that staff and I used so many different dies, but it was fun! I love the Buffalo Check stamp. That was the first time I made it into a plaid, which was also fun. Such a great hobby we have! Thanks for stopping in, love to hear from you. ❤
P.S. Your fishing card is gorgeous!

  3. This is gorgeous! I love the plaid background, it is such a nice way to highlight those pretty lilies! The whole creation is very striking! Thanks for sharing this with us at the AYSI challenge this week!
