Sending Love

“Love is the epiphany of God in our poverty.”

~Thomas Merton

We’re usually thinking a month ahead when we’re stamping for holidays, so tomorrow at card class we’ll be making this Valentine card with the new “Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack”.  The class is full, but if you and your friends would like to start up a class, just let me know.  We meet once a month and make three projects! xoxo Dawn

LL Bean Trip 020

“Who, being loved, is poor?”

~Oscar Wilde

Meet Hubby and Youngest Son, enjoying the beautiful decorations on our shopping trip to Southern Maine (you may have seen the gorgeous lights at LL Bean on yesterday’s post!)  We saw a lot of Christmas sparkle, but today’s card is some Valentine sparkle for #GDP014 over at

As soon as I saw this week’s design challenge I thought of the “That’s the Ticket” stamp set.  There is a Christmas ticket, but I felt Valentine jibes coming on!

Caroling and GDP14 001

The “ticket” is heat embossed in gold, as is the stripe on the top and the little row of cupid’s arrows from the Project Life “Point & Click” stamp set.  The Very Vanilla 4″ base card is embossed with the “Pretty Print” Embossing Folder.  It’s hard to see in the photo but the red heart, punched with an Itty Bitty Punch, and the red around the 3″ center square are both made with the sparkly red glimmer paper.  It was fun to switch holidays for a few minutes, and as always, fun to play along with the Global Design Project.  Hope to see you over there!

Valentine Love

“The heart can do anything.”

This is a late post (had planned to do it on Valentine’s Day but I can never seem to get time for the computer on the week-ends)!  When I designed this card I had planned to use Real Red cardstock, but I was out, so I turned to Cherry Cobbler and I think I like it better!  (We have such a forgiving hobby!)  The pink cardstock and ink is Pirouette Pink.  The black is Momento, which is a shade lighter than Staz-On, but it’s a better match to the light pink.  This is the new Sheltering Tree stamp set and it is really showing it’s versatility!  I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine week-end.  We had Children’s Class on Friday and along with stamping and sewing, the girls learned how to make homemade chocolate pudding.  It was divine! (much better than boxed pudding)  : )

Valentine Cuteness

“The happiest business in all the world is that of making friends.”

~Anne S. Eaton

As much as I love stamping, I love the friends that have come with the hobby even more!  A Valentine shout out to Lorraine, who started the whole stamping thing, and to Stacy, Marlene, Lucy, Diane, MaryJane, Nancy in New York and all our blog readers, Mimi, Terry, Beth, Sue, Val, Johanna, Mark, Katherine, Whitney, Marti, Joy, Wendy, Pat, Hope, Jayden, Ella, Charley, Sarah, Grace, Maggie, Annabelle, Julie, Tricia, Kendra, Molly, Caroline, Audrey and Patti, who made this cute, cute, cute Valentine card and brought it to me at our Monday morning class this week.  I think I need to frame it…thank you Patti!  Thank you friends, for sharing your creativity and friendship and I hope you have a Valentine’s Day filled with love and laughter  (and coziness during the blizzard tomorrow night!)  : )

One More Pile of Wood

“Never, never, never give up.”

~Winston Churchill

I have been trying for well over an hour to load the cropped version of this card, but for some unknow reason, it wouldn’t load!  This is yesterdays card, embellished.  It is based on a Dawn Griffith design.  I’m not sure if it’s better to keep it plain or embellish it for a “guy card!”  : )   Off to start up the woodstove and prepare for more snow later today…. hope you have a warm and productive day! : )

Adventure Bound DSP

“Twenty years from now we will be more disappointed by the things we didn’t do than by the ones we did.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore. Dream. Discover.”

~Mark Twain

I was playing it safe for this “guy card”, but after that quote I think I may embellish it!   But look how perfectly the new Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper slips into this card!  I gave this “Wood You Be Mine” stamp set to Joseph for Christmas because his favorite activities of all time are cutting and stacking wood.  He stacked all our winter wood and cut and stacked all the kindling.  Then he stacked the next door neighbors wood and then the neighbors down the street.  I think it is his calling!  But today he’ll be called to shovel snow when he gets home from school.  I just waded knee high in snow on a path that had been snowblown before this last storm.  We sure are getting the accumulation!

~Irish Proverb

We have a guest stamper today!  The Crusaders Patrol of our Boy Scout Troop met last night to make Valentine cards for their prayer partners and this was Caleb’s creation.  He used the new “Wood You Be Mine?” stamp set.  There are so many things that I like about this card… the blue hat, the radiating hearts,  the choice of border colors, the rounded corners, the shading with colored pencils, the trees behind the sentiment, the placement of the sentiments on the interior of the card, the “Valentine” handwriting…I think Caleb may be a natural at this cardmaking craft! And maybe a natural at theatrics, too! (with a little help from his buddy Joseph)  : )

And there is Joseph’s card in the center photo.  He followed Calebs design for another award-winning card.  A fun time was had by all!  : )
