“Think and wonder, wonder and think…”
Happy Autumn from Maine! I looked out my window at sunrise two days ago and saw this flaming gorgeousness…
Hope you are enjoying the beautiful foliage as much as we have been here! I’ve been out in the garden for the past month, along with two camping trips with the Boy Scouts (without tents!), but today I finally had a morning to stamp. I made a card for the challenge over at http://global-design-project.com. I started out with the Acorny Thank You Stamp Set, but after many combinations of acorns, ended up using only the “thankful” banner from that set. I used two older sets, Truly Grateful and For All Things for the interior sentiment and the remainder of the front of the card.
I started out making a “fall” card, but ended up with a Thanksgiving card! Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends! : ) Tip: For a little contrast on this monochromatic card front, I stamped the 3″ background “frame” on Whisper White cardstock, everything else on Very Vanilla.
“The one good thing about not seeing you is that I can write you letters.”
It’s a nautical theme over at http://global-design-project.com this week and I was inspired by my neighbor Whitney who came over to use the Acorny Thank You stamp set for a military parachuting card she had made. That gave me the idea to use the same sentiment, but with the anchor from The Open Sea stamp set. The anchor rope is made with the Party Pants stamp set and the water is made with the Timeless Textures stamp set (Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay Inks). Hope you are enjoying some water days this summer! Cheers, Dawn.
“…And merry when the great winds sing, through autumn’s woodlands brown.”
Brian King commented that this week’s design over at the Global Design Project was a simple one, and he was right. I took one look at it and thought “acorn!” I knew I wanted to showcase an acorn from the new “Acorny Thank You” stamp set. Then I looked through my small collection of Thanksgiving stamps and saw the background stamp in “Truly Grateful.” I thought I’d use some dots for an embossing folder to compliment the dots on the acorn, but then I saw the Arrows Embossing folder and decided it would compliment the grain in the background stamp on the little squares. Since I didn’t have time to play around with colors, I decided to go with a monochromatic color scheme with Tip Top Taupe, Sahara Sand and Early Espresso. Great fun as always over at http://www.global-design-project.com/ Hope to see you over there! Here is my card for #GDP010:
“O good gigantic smile of the old earth this autumn morning!”
This is a Mary Fish CASE (Copy and Share Everything) with the new Acorny Thank You stamps and Acorn Builder punch. All I did was change up the white background piece with a left-over piece of whisper white embossed with the new Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. If you are new to stamping, Mary Fish is one of the “big fish” in the stamping world and does some great “clean and simple” cards. Tip for lining up the acorns to the acorn punch: punch out a template on a scrap paper and then use it when stamping the acorn images. Just fit the stamps snugly into the template and stamp. Then when you punch out the stamped images they are perfectly lined up!
