Peace Begins With Me Pilgrimage

004

“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.”

~Psalm 84:5

Good Day!  Hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend.  We took our Boy Scout Troop on a “Peace Begins With Me” pilgrimage to all six churches in our parish over the weekend. The three day hike encompassed four towns and covered 26 miles.  At each church, I stamped their homemade “passports” with a different “peace” themed stamp (all Stampin’ Up! stamps) and everyone received a Holy Medal of the church’s namesake Saint to hang on their walking sticks.  It was such a great experience.  We’re already planning next year’s pilgrimage!

We had a different devotion at each church…a “Peace” Prayer Service, the Stations of the Cross, Adoration, Silent Prayer with Organ Music played by one of our Scouts, Examination of Conscience and the Rosary.  Our recurring teaching was:

“If there is to be peace in the world, there must be peace in the nations.

If there is to be peace in the nations, there must be peace in the cities.

If there is to be peace in the cities, there must be peace between neighbors.

If there is to be peace between neighbors, there must be peace in the home.

If there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace in the heart.”

Have a peaceful day,  Dawn (pictured with my brother)

Dove of Peace Gift Tag

“Fill us all with peace.”

~Advent Bulletin

Good Morning!  This was our backyard at 5:00 this morning.   We heard the city plow go by before that and everyone flew out of bed to see how much snow we had…the first snow is always so exciting!  It is like a blanket of peace falling from the sky.    This tag has an aura of peace as well.  It was inspired by a card that Shawn over at Shawnstamps made for the Global Design Project last week, and is a prototype that I made this weekend for tags for our “Giving Tree” at church.  The Giving Tree is put up during Advent (the four weeks before Christmas) and parishioners take a tag, bring it home and purchase a gift suggestion that is written on the back of the tag.  We then bring the gift back to church, with the tag attached to the front of the gift, and  then the gifts are distributed to different organizations in our area.  The tag is made with the Dover of Peace Stamp Set, heat embossed with silver on vellum.  The background is stamped with Marina Mist Ink with a stamp from the Work of Art set.  The little sliver of DSP (Designer Series Paper) on the bottom is from the Season of Cheer paper.  The “To/From” stamp is from the Cozy Christmas stamp set.

Enjoy the first snow today…a perfect day for stamping some peace! xoDawn
