“I wish that for every extra candle on your cake, you receive an extra reason to smile.”
I had quite the fun surprise when I learned that I was the “Featured Artist of the Week” over at the “As You See It” challenge last week! Thank you to the team for voting for my card. xoxo
“And our Featured Artist is: Dawn MacKay”
“Dawn’s beautiful card was layer after layer of loveliness! She had everything including colour, texture and gorgeous design elements in her effective entry! The design team loved the whole mix and especially the vertical elements, combining Gorgeous Grunge with Timeless Textures! “
That is just so fun, thanks again “As You See It” team! : )
This week the challenge at “As You See It” is a Collection Challenge calling for “Bits and Pieces” of all the following elements:
My rainbow is on the cake and candles, which was stamped with “Embellished Events”, the very first stamp set I ever bought. : ) The stamp did alot of gymnastics as I bent back each section to ink it up with ink pads! The confetti behind the candle flames (which are the stars) is from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set. The letters are made with the Bigz Alphabet Typeset which I haven’t used for years and was glad to have the opportunity to use it again! Hope you can play along at http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com
Here we go again with another northeaster! More stamping time, and more outdoor snow time. This past weekend we took our Boy Scout troop snowshoeing at the Outdoor Center at Sugarloaf Mountain in Western Maine. It snowed the whole day and we had a fantastic time! One in our group is a forester and he showed us how to harvest chaga from a birch tree. We made some tea with it and it was very sweet and mild, not what I had expected. It’s always an adventure with the Scouts. : )
“And we find at the end of a perfect day the soul of a friend we’ve made.”
~Carrie Jacobs Bond
This pretty wedding card was made by my very special neighbor and friend, Whitney. I’ve known Whitney all her life, even visiting her in the hospital when she was born! Whitney is an amazing young woman, having overcome many medical obstacles in her life. Yay, Whitney! She hosted my very first Stampin’ Up! event 2 1/2 years ago and we used the Embellished Events stamp set at her party, and now she is using the bells here on her card. Very pretty Whitney!
Thanks for stopping by, have a great week-end!
“There is a fountain of youth: It is our mind, our talents, the creativity we bring to our life and the lives of people we love.”
This is another card I made two years ago at one of our very first Stamping Peace workshops. It was made with the soon to be retired Embellished Events stamp set. This set has it all…flowers, Christmas, baby, wedding bells, anniversary glass of champagne, a birthday cake and all the coordinating sentiments. A classic! : )
“Very much within our reach, and meant for us to share, once-in-a-lifetime moments, encountered everywhere.”
~Grace E. Easley
Embellished Events was the very first stamp set that I purchased as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, and this card made with it was the very first card that we made at a Stamping Peace workshop. It was about six months after we began workshops that this blog came into being, so this card never made it into the spotlight. It’s one of my all-time favorite cards, and stamp sets. Embellished Events is on the retiring list, so if you don’t happen to have it and would like to add it to your collection, just let me know and I’ll put in an order before it is all sold out! (Page 105, 2014-15 Annual Catalog).
Stay tuned for more memories as I search my Media Gallery for projects made with retiring products…
“May brooks and trees and singing hills join in the chorus too,
and every gentle wind that blows send happiness to you.”
This morning we welcome “starsfan” and “hotshot” to our stamping blog. Welcome to Stamping Peace and welcome to Maine if you are “from away”. We hope you will find a little bit of inspiration in our little corner of the blogging world. : )
This morning Joseph and I are off to our annual week at Boy Scout Camp. I will be thinking of you and will try to get some good photos of the gorgeous spot we’ll be at to share with you when we get back home. In the meantime, this “thinking of you” card was made with gumball green and pink pirouette on a Stampin’ Up! notecard. (Sorry for the glare that is fading out most of the flowers.) Have a great week everyone! Peace and Warm Thoughts, Dawn.
“Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile.”
Good Morning and if you are new to our Stamping Peace Blog, welcome! (Welcome “Bling In It!”) We have an awesome Stamping Peace Demonstrators Team (7 of us!) and we meet quarterly. When we had our Winter Team Meeting, we decided that for our Spring Meeting, we would all make a card to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. (Stampin’ Up!’s charity of choice). This is my card. It was made with the Embellished Events stamp set (the cake and the sentiment on the envelope) and the Delightful Dozen stamp set (the inside sentiment). I used Island Indigo and Very Vanilla Cardstock and the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper. For the birthday cake I used the Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Calypso Coral and Summer Starfruit Markers. The circle framelits were used to make the circles on the front of the card. Such a fun card! : ) If you would like to make a card for our packet going to the Ronald McDonald House, just let me know. They are due on May 31st. Peace, Dawn
“Strangers are just friends waiting to happen.”
Yesterday we had the wonderful news of Johanna, who came as a stranger last summer, is now a friend, and has joined the Stamping Peace Team. Today I’m happy to share that Katherine, who also came as a stranger just last Monday night, is now also a friend and is signing up to be on the team. Welcome Katherine! Katherine is one of those people who makes us want to celebrate life just by looking at her. I feel that way with every team member and every stamping and blogging friend. The stamping world attracts such a happy group of people who all love creating! Yay, stampinistas! : ) Todays card is one that we made at our very first stamping classes last spring and is one of my all-time favorites. (I’m on a spring cleaning tear this week and haven’t been stamping, so I’m digging into the card archive!) : ) It was made with the very first stamp set that I got for my “demonstratorship”…Embellished Events and is embossed with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder. Now, I want to end with “Happy Spring!” but since it snowed last night we’ll just leave it at “Have a ‘Happy Spring is Coming’ Day!” Peace and Celebration, Dawn
