“A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower. “
~Marianne Williamson
Yesterday the UPS man arrived during the snowstorm (now that’s dedication!) and these tulips came in a hostess set called “Tranquil Tulips”. I had fun playing with them this morning (while it was snowing again). : ) This card was inspired by the design from last weeks “Case this Sketch.” I thought I was being clever by masking the bottom of the tulip stems and leaves so I could stamp the sentiment directly on the card (as I had learned over at stampwithbrian.com) but when I did, it came out a little bit crooked! Not to be deterred, I covered it up with a 1″ strip of Whisper White cardstock and restamped the sentiment which is from the Loyal & True Stamp Set. : ) The little 3/4″ wide Dapper Denim rectangles on the sides of the sentiment are cut from a strip of Color Theory DSP Stack. And speaking of covering up mistakes, the “White Perfect Accents” were added because I got a little smudge of black ink from my thumb on the card. The large one on the bottom was the perfect size to cover it! : )
This is another card I made while practicing with the Tranquil Tulips stamp set. I used the colors from the Fab Friday Stamp Challenge…Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, Old Olive and Soft Suede. Not colors I would choose for a tulip card, but therein lies the challenge! : ) I combined the tulips with the “Jar of Love” Stamp Set, and so that it wasn’t sitting in space, I masked off the bottom of the jar with a second jar that I had stamped and cut out, and stamping over that, stamped a large watercolored oval with a stamp from the “Perpetual Birthday Calender” stamp set. One little spot didn’t get inked, so I covered that with two beautiful glitter enamel dots. I guess todays post is all about what to do when you make mistakes. LOL!!! I’ll keep practicing because we’ll definitely be using this set at our next stamping class. Have a great day! xo Peace, Dawn
