Experimenting with Brusho

“It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it.”

~John Burroughs

This was my very first try with Brusho Crystals.  As you can see, I need more practice, but the beautiful snowflakes from the Snowfall Thinlits Dies saved the day!  The sentiment is from the Spirited Snowmen stamp set, and the silver sentiment matte is from the Petals & More Thinlits Dies.  I’m sending it as a sympathy card to Sister Bernadette at the monastery where I am an Oblate.  Her beloved beautiful white dog, Daisy Mae, recently passed and we’re all missing her!

If you are in the Northeast, enjoy this beautiful snowy stamping day!  I took this picture two days ago, but it looks just the same today. 🙂  xo Dawn

Crosses of Hope Meets Petal Palette

“May the blessing of Light be on you, light without and light within…”

~Irish Blessing

Hello Stamping Friends!  It rained yesterday morning so I was finally able to sit down and make some cards.  A friend, Sister Elizabeth, had asked me to make a card for her parish priest, who is retiring, so this is the card I made for her.  It was the same lay-out as another card I had made earlier this Spring, which was a CASE from Ann Schach.  This card uses an old set, Crosses of Hope, along with the Petal Palette set and some Gorgeous Grunge.  Cardstock colors are Sweet Sugarplum and Night of Navy.  The inside sentiment says “Congratulations on your Retirement” from the Wild About Flowers Stamp Set.

Have a peaceful day, xo Dawn

“The Earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations.”
—John Paul II

“Earth Day 2018: End Plastic Pollution” will be celebrated on April 22nd.  If we can all do just one thing to help the effort, what a difference we will make!

I’ve seen stampers make just one card for two different challenges, but I had never tried it before making this card for the Global Design Challenge  http://www.gobal-design-project.com and the Festive Friday Challenge https://festivefridaychallenge.com

For the Global Design Project Challenge I knew I wanted to use the Petal Palette Stamp Set, so decided to use it to also make an Earth Day Card for Festive Friday.  It was my first time trying out the Garden Trellis Embossing Folder and I think it paired really well with Petal Palette!  The little flower is a die in the Petals & More Thinlits, as is the base for the sentiment.  The sentiment is stamped with the Labeler Alphabet Stamp Set.  Counting down to April 22nd!   In the meantime, a shout out to our Stampin’ Up! friends who are attending OnStage this weekend.  Have a wonderful time! Peace, Dawn xo

Freshly Made Sketches #331

“Music!—who loves it not? Who has not felt his soul soothed and softened by its sweet influence?”

~F.B., “Notes of Music,” 1848

Good Morning!  This card was made for this weeks “Freshly Made Sketch.”  I used the “Sheet Music” Background Stamp, the “Flourish Thinlits Dies”, and an old stamp set called “Loving Thoughts” for the Sentiment.  The base for the sentiment was cut with a die from the “Petals & More Thinlits Dies.”  Here is the sketch if you would like to play along at http://www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/  Have a wonderful day!  Peace, Dawn  xoxo
