In Colors Card for #GDP009

Young Eagles Aviation Merit Badge 033

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”

G.K. Chesterton

Joseph’s smile says it all after enjoying a flight yesterday at the Bar Harbor (Maine) Airport.  A United Airlines pilot spent the day with our Boy Scout Troop, instructing them in aviation and taking them up for a flight for their Aviation Merit Badges.  This morning I wanted to make a card for the pilot, and decided to combine it with this week’s Global Design Project’s color challenge.

I do not have an airplane stamp in my collection, so I went with another mode of transportation that Joseph loves, which is his bicycle (built for two).  We’ll cleverly combine the concept of bicycle to airplane in our note to the pilot!

I didn’t want a lot of color for a “guy card”, so slipped in the Mint Macaron with a little flower punched from the Boho Blossoms Punch, and added a Watermelon Wonder “Blossom Accent” embellishment on top of the punched flower and the flower on the stamp from the “Postage Due” stamp set.  I was able to make an envelope for the 5 1/2″ card with Stampin’ Up’s! new Envelope Paper.  This was another fun challenge…hope you can give it a try over at http://global-design-project.com/

  1. Dawn – that was quick! I love this card – I love that you made the colors accents to your black-and-white card. So smart! What a fun reason to say “thank you” to the pilot. Thanks so much for playing along with this week’s Color Challenge at Global Design Project – I’m always thrilled to see your work.

  2. Wow, Dawn, that was quick! I love your reason behind this card – how exciting for Joseph. The pilot will be delighted as I think some of the very early flights (like when they were still trying to fly!) had bicycles involved in some form! Your use of the colours in the challenge is clever too. Thanks so much for playing with us at Global Design Project this week.

    • It was exciting for the adults too, we learned alot during classroom work and then outside learning all the parts of a plane! Thanks for another great challenge. Without it, I never would have reached for this particular stamp set! 🙂

    • Not as fast as you would think Connie! I began by watching a video of how to make a tri-fold card, but after making the folds, I didn’t have any inspiration to continue it, so I started over and came up with this card, which went through three revisions! I was happy with the end result though. 🙂

  3. Such a great card, Dawn. I love the inspiration for the card and that you were able to get a masculine card done with these bright colors. Beautiful work.
